Murdoch has welcomed the opportunity to meet with the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) to continue bargaining discussions.
The parties met on 6 September 2017, marking an important step towards securing a simple, modern and fair Enterprise Agreement that’s right for our people and our University.
It was our first meeting since the Fair Work Commission’s decision to terminate our existing Enterprise Agreement, which has provided the opportunity for both parties to negotiate from a more workable starting point.
Our focus at the meeting was fixed firmly on a timely outcome to negotiations and we reaffirmed our commitment to pay increases — not pay cuts — as has been widely misreported in the media.
Further meetings with the NTEU are planned in the weeks ahead and updates will be provided as bargaining continues.
